Paul Smith Fall 2011 RTW
So it seems the androgyny trend is going to be moving full steam ahead well into next year, with this exceptional Fall 2011 Ready-To-Wear show by Paul Smith. Showing last Monday in London for their current Fashion Week, Smith goes the opposite direction of the decadent aesthetic so prevalent on runways right now. He sent out no-nonsense separates styled with librarian's glasses, ties, and skinny belts. Looks like these are sexy in their own way, because one is always wondering what exactly is going on underneath such an understated exterior; Smith also added splashes of color and chiffon to up the ante as well. (Translation: I die for those cranberry pants and those bare office shirts under jackets.)
Rumpled, casually tucked-in button-ups and sweaters added to the chic ensembles, which, while they weren't glamorous, definitely weren't on the minimal side of trends, either. The result is Annie Hall meets 'The Absent-Minded Professor,' and though I'm not quite sure where you wear this collection (work? the mall? It's the kind of collection that only really works on girls with a lot of charisma or with a LOT of fashion shows to attend), wherever you wear them people will probably stop and stare.
