This week's Thursday Style Icon was inspired by the shows they were giving in Continental (the bar I frequent downtown) last weekend. They have huge projection screens where they always give some kind of movie or tv show, and last Friday, they were giving Gilligan's Island! I decided to make the entire cast the Thursday Style Icon, so instead of one large post, I'm going to do five smaller posts on some of the characters individually. Gilligan's Island ran from 1964 to 1967, and featured a motley crew of shipwreck survivors on a desert island. Gilligan and the Skipper were the crew members of the failed ship, the S. S. Minnow, with the 'Millionaire and his Wife,' the 'Movie Star,' the 'Professor,' and Mary Anne the passengers.
This show had killer fashion! The millionaire and his wife were the epitome of prep, the movie star managed to wear a glamourous gown every day, and Gilligan became known for his collared red shirt (an interesting fact, because the first season of the show was in black and white).
