I haven't been to an aquarium in years, so I was really excited when I learned that New Orleans had one of the biggest and brightest nature centers in the country, complete with an insectarium and Imax Theater (where I saw the amazing documentary,
Hurricane on the Bayou).
The aquarium is split into five sections, and one of them,
Adventure Island, has a stingray petting station! You climb up the stairs to the tank and just stick your hand in, and the stingrays are super friendly. They WANT you to pet them, swimming right up to your hand and rubbing under your palm. Their backs are soft and kind of silky... I think I want a pet stingray :)
