Denim jackets are a classic item- but they can be a little tricky to pull off. If you're a jean fiend, it's hard to find appropriate bottoms to go with a blue jean jacket... because I don't care if you ARE Kanye West, an all jean look is just no.
I mean, I guess he gets cool points for his company
The best thing to pair your cotton topper with for summer is a cool khaki pant or lightweight dress.
The touch of denim works because it keeps looks casual. And a lot of people have a tendency to shy away from fabrics like courdoroy or khaki for fear that it's more 'formal' than denim (which is so untrue! Lycra-blend khakis, cuffed at the bottom, can be just as casual and waayyy more comfy). It has the same effect on a floaty summer dress and flat sandals.
Guys can get in on the action, too, with the khakis and an interesting tee:
It also works with easy cargos or structured walking shorts.
Word of caution: do not ever wear your jean jacket with a button up. This jacket will never replace a structured blazer, sports coat, or dinner jacket, and when worn with a button up that's what you look like you're trying to do, even if you're not.
Unless you wear that white button up with the jacket and chaps. Then you're just the Marlboro Man.
thank YOU
