The DYI Project: Part 1, Operation Dresser

It's finished! After the painstaking process of putting together the Rast dresser (see here), my friend, Star, and I got up bright and early Saturday morning and made the trip to Ikea. Apparently, home decoration is a booming business; that place was packed. I picked out some pretty, semi-gloss paint and Star chose the most awesome square dresser knobs to jazz the whole thing up a bit.

To avoid any spills and/or bitching from the housemates, we taped garbage bags to the floor and kept the painting strictly in one spot.


There was little bit of a mishap on this one... aka, I painted the wrong side by mistake. But it was on the part that faces inside the dresser, so it was fine.

And after 2-4 hours, ta-da! A gorgeous new dresser, for a grand total of $60!

Next step, Operation Shelves...
