Brian Atwood Hidden Platform PumpsWith colors like 'putty' and 'muted' being slung around this season, one thing every girl should invest in is a pair of nude pumps.

Why nude, you ask? Because nude is definitely the new black. After a few seasons of dark, deep colors like purple, forest green, and the always effortless black ruling the runways, putty and other colors in the warm beige family are making a comeback (especially for make-up and nail polish. Google 'Putty 2010.' It's
everywhere). A nude shoe has the ability to go with everything in your closet yet stand out at the same time, which is a little hard for basic black to accomplish unless it has an interesting shape or texture. While I love the Brian Atwood pumps seen above (in the first picture and on
Kristin Cavallari), I definitely can't afford the $520 price tag over at
Saks Fifth Avenue. So I've compiled a couple of similar looks that aren't quite so hard on the pocket:
Dolce Vita Women's Madison Platform Pump$100-$120
The color on these isn't a warm putty, as on the Brian Atwood heels, but they get the job done.
