This End Up: Precious Cargo

Riding on the wave of the military trend has come the fitted cargo pant, and, I'm making this up as I go, the cegging. Cargo legging. Carpegging, maybe? Anyways, olive green, muted grays, and warm browns have replaced the fatigues and faded tones of the baggy shorts that usually come to mind when I think 'cargos.'

The fit is also completely different. Cut slim like skinny jeans, they're outfitted with pockets, zippers and a cropped hemline. Think Audrey Hepburn, if she ever traded in her cigarette pants and lived in 2010.

Cute... but no cigar

While the sturdy cotton of men's cargo pants (which girls have been throwing on for years... just ask Jessica Simpson, above) have carried over to many versions of the slim versions floating around, leggings are beginning to do for cargos what they did for jeans. Tight without being restrictive and comfortable without sacrificing structure, they're an easy way to get in on the trend.

Wet Seal Twill Cargo Pants

Piperlime carries pages of cargos and 'ceggings' (I'm sticking to that), ranging from $80-$500. Yeah, right. Wet Seal has a very nice pair that's 98% cotton, 2% spandex and retailing at $29. They come in a variety of sizes from 0-15, so those are probably your best bet if you just want to get started.
