What do the sophisticated sweats, chunky cableknit sweaters, and oversized tees of this season all have in common? Larger-than-life proportions.
Alexander Wang 'T'
Blame it on the obesity crisis, but everything is huge this season- even cropped shirts are being worn in a boxy shape as opposed to the more fitted, midriff baring styles of the past. And girls everywhere are trading in their minis and tight turtlenecks for long skirts and fishermans knits.
The new sportswear line T by Alexander Wang features a tee shirt cut long and loose, with a deliberately unfinished hem- and neckline. It's been lauded as unisex and become a favorite among celebrities, but retailing at $78 is a little steep for the regualr person. Forever 21 has similar looks for a lot less.

When wearing oversized looks, keep in mind the concepts of balance and proportion. Just like you never reveal boobs and legs, you also shouldn't go too loose on bottom if you're going to slouch your top. You can also always belt tops to give them a shape and define your waistline.
Victoria's Secret Fair Isle Sweater
Chunky sweaters and tunic-length tops look best with leggings, stockings, or, if you're really bold, shorts with tights and boots. Baggier harem pants, sweats, and maxi skirts look best with high heels and tailored, streamlined jackets.
If you play with the proportions too much and go huge all over, you'll probably end up looking like this. Bigger might be better, but you can always have too much of a good thing.
