Saturday was a gorgeous late summer day, so I did what any respectable semi-New Yorker would do: hit Central Park! It was my first time actually going IN , the park, which is slightly sad considering I've only been living in Manhattan a year.

I have an extreme slight obsession with Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, so it was only fitting that I FINALLY saw the Alice statues on East 74th Street. I actually had no idea they were there before Saturday morning, even though I knew there are Alice-themed tiles in the 59th St station (the entrance to Central Park).

The statue features Alice, her cat, Dinah, the Mad Hatter, the Chesire Cat, the Dormouse, and the March Hare. It was commissioned by George Delacorte for his late wife, Margarita, in 1959. Margarita apparently loved children and especially loved Alice in Wonderland.

The bronze statue was made with all kinds of nooks and crannies for children to climb, and has been worn smooth by years of kids all over it. Of course I had to take a wack at it.

I thought I was going to fall to my death. (I survived.)

I have officially crossed over to the dark side: jeggings. I ordered a pair from Old Navy because they got amazing reviews... and were only $30. I also don't have any black jeans and decided there was no time like the present to try out the color on a pair of jeggings and test run them reliving my childhood in Central Park.

Holy crap.

I loved them. LOVED THEM. They were really stretchy and uber-comfortable. I felt like I was climbing the statue in exercise clothes. And even though they were form-fitting, they weren't restrictive, they didn't pinch, and at no point, even after eating a huge burrito bowl from Chipotle, did I have to unbutton my top button. My white shirt is a super huge workout top from H&M.

After leaving the statue, we went spent the last part of the day enjoying the sunlight by the lake in the center of the park.
