Chukkas, a long-time staple of prepster boys everywhere (History lesson: the name 'chukka' is derived from the game of polo, what the shoes were originally worn for), have been creeping into women's fashion all summer.
Made from a lightweight suede or calfskin, the midrise of the shoe is as perfect for dresses as polo shorts, and as the season winds down, they're blasting into action with numerous designers rolling out heeled versions just in time for fall.

Street culture is also putting it's own spin on chukkas, with Vans rolling out a suede and rubber, sneaker version as well as collaborating with brand Crooks and Castles on a limited edition leather style.
This is a trend that can be incorporated easily into any wardrobe; just wear it as you would a regular flat or bootie. Dress it up or down with jeans, shorts, skirts- whatever you want!
High-heeled or wedged versions in tan or olive green also work with the military trend currently running rampant, especially when paired with leggings and a cargo jacket.
