H&M Fall 2010
Fall is looming on the horizon, and one of the strongest trends heading into cooler weather is the tribal fusion that dominated the spring and summer seasons. Instead of bright, colorful ethnic prints, however, for fall it transforms into warm nuetrals and varied textures.
Chunky knits, furs, feathers, and beading are September 2010 essentials. It's going to be all about layering: your favorite skinny jeans with boots, a long-sleeved blouse, furry vest, and chunky sweater. You can also throw in something leather: a belt, a bracelet. Native American influences replace the African Ikat as go-to prints, as well, so load up on items with muted colors and geometric shapes. You can also never go wrong with lots of turquoise and silver jewelery. The picture above is from Topshop's Fall 2010 line.
Even if you decide to take your look simple, accesories are going to be your friend as the cold weather approaches. A huge, knit scarf goes a long way, as does a beaded, colorful headband or fringe bag. The trick to this look is making sure nothing appears too new. It's supposed to be all about a homey, worn feeling, like you filched it from Grandma's house (see the H&M look above). Lived-in, hippy dippy chic.
