Here is a trend that I've been seing a lot of on the streets, and not on runways this season. The pencil skirts of the Fall 2009 are the closest cousins to this trend that I've seen, and even those were bandage-style, knee length affairs that looked like they were making their great escape from a suit.
Most of the skirts worn here are bandage-style, or super short bubbles; either way, they're meant to be extremely body conscious. The bigger top evens out the style and keeps it from being too sexy.

This look is all over the streets: I mentioned in this post that I saw a girl walking down the street in Soho rocking the tight skirt/baggy top combo, and another lady in Ikea in Brooklyn. Fashion bloggers are also heating up the Internet with their own takes; dressed up with heels or casual in flat sandals. Play with the proportions if it suits you, especially since not everyone has the body for skirts as tight as these. It also works with baggier, bubble style and a slim-fitting shirt tucked in.
