Valentino's Summer 2010 collection incorporated some serious rufflage (yes, I made that up), on jackets, dresses, and skirts. True to trend, however, my favorite piece had to be a chocolate satin romper with a huge swirl across the front.

Viktor and Rolf also utilized texture with color in their Spring/Summer 2010 Collection, accenting the hemlines on hard, geometric silhouette's:

Ruffles are sweet and feminine, and a little goes a long way. Even the smallest wave can noticeably soften an outfit, but the reverse is true, as well: too big or too many pleats and you look like you're wearing a Little Bo Peep costume.
The best way to ensure you're not going overboard is to pair them with at least one other piece that's as far away from 'pretty' as you can get. A frilly camisole peeking out of a militarian jacket, for example, keeps the look from being too stern.
Ruffles huh? Well, the romper IS ADORABLE!
