Claudia Kishi, Fashion Extraordinaire

So I was channel-surfing today and I came across The Babysitter's Club movie! While I wasn't a fan of the movie, I absolutely adored the book series. I always had a soft spot for Claudia Kishi, but it wasn't until recently that I realized why: The girl can dress!

I remember reading the series and dog-earing the pages (a habit I've had since I was young) where they described her outfits. I remember one in particular where she said she was inspired by Ms. Frizzle, from 'The Magic Schoolbus,' to wear an entire ensemble revolving around the sea, complete with jelly sandals she'd painted fish on.

She was depicted as an artist, so she had an eye for color and a flair for the dramatic. When she got her own radio show, for example, she wore a full tuxedo on her first day, complete with a shiny, silk cummerbund- for the RADIO!

The artist in her also made her notoriously crafty, wearing paper mâché earrings and personalizing EVERYTHING. One of her motto's was that she never wore an outfit the same way twice, even if all she did was change her jewelry.

When not wearing themed outfits, Claudia's daily uniform consisted of paint-splattered men's shirts, leggings, and brightly colored tube socks. Sound familiar? Any fashionable girl could be seen wearing this today... Well, maybe not the tube socks.

Check out some more of her covers:

  2. I was Claudia. I mean I WAS CLAUDIA. You couldn't tell me I wasn't that chick. Cause we were both artists, I would get beaten from here to there for painting on my clothes, when my mother would take us to the thrift store (we were so poor back in the day I though thrifting was real shopping) I would be buying crazy ish...

I was Claudia. Oh and both our names started with C. Can't tell me I ain't Claudia.

  3. I love the babysitters club books and she was one of the main reason. Both her and Maryann both had great style.
