Michael Kors Fall 2011 Ready-To-Wear

Michael Kors Fall 2011 RTW collection hit me, in the words of Florence + the Machine, like a bullet to the brain. Utilizing trends like the seventies, minimalism, and monochrome, Kors punched up the drama a notch with standout looks in red, camel, and fur. Never one for gypsy, hippie dippy chic, Kors also went full on disco glam in his trademark separates, pairing both structured wide-legged trousers and relaxed jersey dresses with huge furs.

This is another example of major moves classic American designers have been making recently, to give their casual clothes a more polished, funky feel (Lacoste's new 'Unconventional Chic' campaign comes to mind). This is American sportswear with a decidely urban twist. It's city slicker meets The Sopranos; and it definitely wouldn't be caught dead with Ralph Lauren at the country club.
